V.D.D.
The project tells the story of the journey along the Via degli Dei through its landscapes, its challenges, and the people who walk it, each with their own story and their own reason for being there. One hundred and thirty kilometres of climbs, heat, fatigue and silence, where the physical journey inevitably comes to meet the inner one.
The author chooses to undertake the journey alone, seeking in silence and in the distance from everyday distractions a space in which to pause, listen to himself and bring things back into order. Not to forget what has been, nor to defeat the small and great “monsters” that each person carries within, but to relocate them. To find once again their place, a sense of balance, a direction to follow.
The photographs emerge from the encounter with what the journey places before the eyes. An apparently simple, almost documentary account of the Via degli Dei, into which the author’s thoughts, emotions and sensations inevitably find their way. Images that, when revisited, bring back not only places, but also smells, sounds, fatigue and moments lived along the way. A personal experience that does not claim to offer answers, but perhaps a possibility: that of stopping and listening to oneself. Along the way, however, this journey comes to meet those of others: people who have chosen to walk the same paths to challenge themselves, to search for an answer, to find a direction, or simply to leave behind a few of the little stones that have found their way into the shoes of their lives.
Different stories, brought together by the choice to set themselves in motion. And perhaps this is what the author would like to leave with the viewer: not an answer, but the curiosity to wonder whether, somewhere along their own path, there might also be something waiting to be found.
